Why Dolly Parton Doesn't Ride Rollercoasters

Awarded "Friendliest Park" in the entire theme park industry, 'Dollywood' hits home when it comes to the best in family fun.

Located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, 'Dollywood' boasts more than 50 rides and attractions, including several roller coasters. But you won't catch Dolly Parton on any of the thrill rides, and for a good reason.

In a recent interview with Cody Alan, the "Jolene" singer reveals the truth.

"It's kind of a joke. People know that I don't get on the new rides or the roller coasters and all the stuff," laughs Dolly.

"They even have Dolly look-a-likes sometimes. One year, I wouldn't ride them, so they had about 12 Dolly look-a-likes with the wigs and the boobs and everything, and then when they went around for the press, then I just walked out from behind the thing dressed like me," Dolly continues. "I said, "I've got too much to lose to get on that ride! Like my hair, like my shoes, like my boobs, like my eyelashes. Like, Everything!" I can't get on that! So, no, I don't ride that stuff usually."

'Dollywood' is kicking off the 2021 season with new attractions and new outdoor dining options.

"Everything is ready to go. New shows, new culinary items, new decor, and a couple of our rollercoasters got a facelift, so to say. Lots of things to see and do. Even if you came to 'Dollywood' in 2021, lots of new things to do this season," says Ellen Liston with 'Dollywood' in a statement with the press.

A number of new safety measures have been put in place, such as, temperature checks and sanitation stations. Face masks are required, but the park has established mask-free break zones.
