Ashley McBryde will no longer take the stage this week as she takes time for doctor-ordered vocal rest.
The “Rattlesnake Preacher” singer said in a statement on her Instagram story on Monday afternoon (August 11) that “my voice has been struggling over the past few weeks, and as much as it pains me, I won’t be able to play my shows this week. My doctors have made it crystal clear: my voice needs complete rest to heal. There’s nothing I want more than to be back giving you 100%.
“Thank you for understanding,” McBryde shared in her statement. “I’ll see you soon.”
McBryde shared last week in a video on Instagram that she “hurt my throat,” and was unable to speak. The Grammy winner wrote in her caption that her “doc says I’m working on busted up vocal cords. The last thing I wanna do is cancel any meet greets or Heaven forbid SHOWS. So let’s try this for this week!”
McBryde’s next performances are set for August 22 and August 23 in Tampa Florida, and Orange Beach, Alabama, respectively, her website shows. Among other upcoming performances, McBryde also announced her residency to mark the opening of her “first-of-its-kind” bar in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The singer-songwriter will open Redemption on the fifth floor of Eric Church’s six-story bar and entertainment venue, Chiefs, located at 200 Broadway. The bar will offer a stage for rising artists and feature zero-proof cocktails, “inspired by McBryde’s personal path to sobriety and designed as a welcoming space that honors authenticity, connection, and original songwriting,” per a previously-issued press release. Redemption will open on August 28.
