The Band Perry announced their official comeback in country music on Friday (June 6). The trio’s return arrives 15 years after they released their debut studio album.
Siblings Kimberly Perry, Reid Perry and Neil Perry kicked off the group’s career with their self-titled debut album in 2010. They became known for hits like “If I Die Young,” “Better Dig Two,” “DONE” and more. They went on to win Grammys, Country Music Association Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, CMT Music Awards and six No. 1 singles, among other accolades, notes a press release issued Friday morning. The Band Perry is returning with original members Kimberly and Reid, plus Kimberly’s husband, Johnny Costello.
“After stepping away to take a break and evolve, we’re feeling more grounded, more fired-up, and more connected to our roots than ever,” the band said in a statement. “Country music has always been home for us—and we feel so grateful to still have a seat at the table. We’re bringing everything we’ve lived, everything we’ve learned, and a whole new energy into this next season. We can’t wait to share what’s coming.”
The Band Perry announced in early 2023 that they “decided to take a creative break as a group and each focus on our individual creative pursuits.” They opted to reunite for a homecoming show earlier this year to help with Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Neil continued his solo endeavors, and his bandmates wished him “the most success” at that time. Kimberly said it was “a gorgeous full circle moment” to play a show “10 minutes away from” where she wrote “If I Die Young.”
To celebrate their official return to country music, The Band Perry announced a performance on the Hard Rock Stage at CMA Fest in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. However, they had to cancel the performance because of inclement weather. The trio said in a statement on their Instagram story that they’re “absolutely heartbroken that we’re unable to play for y’all on the Hard Rock Stage. We were so ready to share this special night with you. Thank you for showing up, rain or shine — it means the world to us. We’ll be counting the days until we can be back with y’all in Nashville. Stay safe and know how deeply grateful we are for your support.”
