For as long as we’ve been wearing it, most of us have spritzed perfume on our wrists and then rubbed our wrists together. But it turns out, this common practice isn’t necessary and in fact, it’s actually not helping your favorite scent at all.
We are getting it right by spraying fragrance on our wrists, putting it on pulse points warms it up so it gives off scent all day. But rubbing them together can actually “dull top notes and accelerate evaporation.” Top notes are the most delicate part of the fragrance and could very well be the reason you love that scent in the first place. And mixing your natural oils vigorously with the perfume could change the way it smells and nobody wants that.
So what’s a girl to do? Just take it down a notch and lightly dab your wrists together instead, then let the fragrance air dry. And using an unscented moisturizer could help, too because the more hydrated your skin is, the longer your scent stays with you.
