Four Bats In Kentuckiana Test Positive For Rabies

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife has confirmed three bats from Jefferson County and one bat from Oldham County have recently tested positive for rabies; all of them have been big, brown bats. Health officials are urging anyone who sees a dead bat or one acting erratically during the day to not approach it. Contact Louisville Metro Department of Health at 502-574-6650. Louisville Metro Animal Services is providing low-cost pet vaccinations, including one or three-year rabies vaccines at a clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 201 Outer Loop.
