Two teenagers and a firefighter were dramatically rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after becoming stranded on a cliff near Roads End Point, Oregon, on Saturday (July 5). The Coast Guard received reports of the teens being trapped alongside a firefighter who initially attempted to rescue them. The rescue operation involved an MH-60 helicopter crew, who located the three individuals on the rocky cliff and hoisted them to safety, just yards from the dangerous coastline. The three were then transported to Siletz Bay State Airfield for further assistance.
Roads End Point is a popular tourist destination known for its tidepools, hidden coves, and islands formed by lava fragments. The Coast Guard's executive officer, CDR Amanda Denning, stated, "Our air crews frequently train with our agency partner agencies to conduct rescues in a variety of conditions and terrain in the Pacific Northwest. We are extremely happy that we were able to rescue the three individuals and transport them to safety."
